Privacy Policy
Mia: My First AI — Last updated: April 2, 2026
Our commitment: Mia is designed for children ages 3-12. We take your child's privacy and safety extremely seriously. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service, and parents have full control over all data at all times.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information (from parents):
- Parent email address (for account creation and consent verification)
- Password (stored encrypted, never in plain text)
- Child's first name and age (to personalize the experience)
Usage Data:
- Conversation transcripts between your child and Mia
- Time spent using the app
- Topics discussed (for parent dashboard visibility)
- Game scores and progress
What We Do NOT Collect:
- Location data
- Photos or videos
- Contact lists
- Device identifiers for advertising
- Last names, home addresses, phone numbers, or school names
2. How We Use Information
- To provide age-appropriate AI conversations
- To remember your child's interests and preferences (visible to parents)
- To display usage and conversation data in the Parent Dashboard
- To enforce content safety filters
- To process subscription payments (via Stripe — we never see your full card number)
3. Parental Consent
Before your child can use Mia's AI conversation features, we require verifiable parental consent via email verification. Parents must:
- Create the account and child profile
- Verify their email address
- Review what data Mia collects and how it's used
- Explicitly consent before AI features are enabled
Consent can be revoked at any time from the Parent Dashboard.
4. Parent Dashboard & Transparency
Parents have full visibility and control through the in-app Parent Dashboard:
- Conversation Transcripts: Read every message between your child and Mia
- Usage Statistics: See daily, weekly, and monthly usage
- Content Flags: Review any content that was flagged by our safety filters
- Topic Controls: Enable or disable specific conversation topics
- Custom Blocked Topics: Add your own topics that Mia should not discuss
- Data Export: Download all of your child's data at any time
- Data Deletion: Permanently delete all of your child's data at any time
5. Content Safety
Mia is designed with multiple layers of content safety:
- Server-side content filtering blocks inappropriate topics before they reach the AI
- AI system instructions prohibit discussion of violence, weapons, drugs, sexual content, and other adult topics
- Personal information detection prevents children from sharing sensitive data
- All flagged content is logged and visible to parents
- Parents can customize content restrictions per child
Mia will never: Ask for personal information, discuss inappropriate topics, give medical or legal advice, encourage keeping secrets from parents, or share information between children's profiles.
6. Data Storage & Security
- All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt
- Audio recordings are processed for speech-to-text and immediately discarded — we never store raw audio
- Conversation data is automatically deleted after 90 days
- Parent Dashboard is protected by a PIN set by the parent
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your child's personal information with any third parties. The only services that process data are:
- Deepgram: Speech-to-text processing (audio is not stored)
- Groq: AI response generation (no user data is retained by Groq)
- Stripe: Payment processing (we never see your full card number)
8. Your Rights
As a parent, you have the right to:
- Review all data collected about your child
- Export your child's data in a machine-readable format
- Request deletion of your child's data at any time
- Revoke consent for AI features
- Delete your account entirely
All of these actions are available directly from the Parent Dashboard in the app, or by contacting us at privacy@ignisalgos.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify parents via email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the app after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
